Set up a VIP tiers program
Overview:
VIP tiers allow you to reward customers with different benefits based on their loyalty, such as points earned, spend, or engagement. A tiered program helps drive repeat purchases, increase customer lifetime value, and create clear incentives for customers to stay active and progress to higher tiers. This article walks you through how to set up a VIP tiers program in Love Loyalty
Setting up tiers in the admin
- Tier calculation -
Navigate to the VIP tiers section in the app where tier calculation lets you decide how customers qualify for VIP tiers—either based on the total points they earn through loyalty actions or the total amount they spend.
Choose the option that best aligns with your program goals, whether you want to reward engagement or overall purchase value.

- Add VIP Tier -
Click on Add VIP tier to add the tiers as per your requirement.
- Tier expiry -
Tier expiry defines when a customer’s tier progress resets, while allowing them to keep the tier they’ve already achieved for the next period.

- Individual tier settings -
You can configure an individual loyalty tier by setting the required points/amount spent for entry and customising the tier name and icon and add specific benefits for this tier.

- Tier entry -
Set the number of points required for customers to enter this tier. The Bronze tier is the starting tier in your program, so its tier entry is always 0 points and cannot be changed.
- Benefits offered in VIP tiers -
There are various benefits you can offer under VIP tiers. You can choose from the below options:
- Amount discount (one-time) - The customer will receive one-time amount off discount (eg.: $10).
- Amount discount (automatic) - The customer will receive a fixed amount off discount on all future purchases.
- % off discount (one-time) - The customer will receive one-time % off discount (eg.: 10%).
- % off discount (automatic) - The customer will receive a % off discount (eg.: 10%) on all future purchases.
- Free shipping (one-time) - The customer will receive a one-time free shipping discount.
- Free shipping (automatic) - The customer will receive free shipping on all future purchases.
- Free product - The customer will receive a free product discount. The discount can only be used once (to provide multiple free products you should add multiple free product benefits).
- **Bonus points: **The customer will get bonus points in the tier the belong. (eg: 100 points for being in Gold tier).
- Store credit cashback (one-time) - The customer get a one-time store credit added to their account.
- Store credit cashback (% after every order) - Customers will get X% back in store credit after every purchase.
- Custom benefits - Custom benefits are benefits that are listed on app placements but are managed outside of the app. Good examples are early access to new products, invites to exclusive events etc.

- Enabling the tiers -
Tiers only start calculating customer progress once they are enabled, so no tier movement happens before activation. If you need to assign tiers in bulk or apply them retrospectively to existing customers, you can do so by reaching out to our support team.

Setting it up on the Storefront
After the your VIP Tiers program is set up in the admin the last step is to show it on the storefront.
- Cart modal
The VIP Tiers can also be displayed on the Redeem rewards placement in the cart once the app embed for Love loyalty app is enabled.

- Loyalty Page
The VIP Tiers section can also be displayed to the Loyalty page by adding Love: Hero Banner and Love: VIP Tiers app blocks to this page.

- Customer account block
The VIP Tiers section can be displayed to the Customer account by adding Point Balance app blocks to this page.

- Orders Page
The VIP Tiers section can be displayed to the Orders Page by adding Point Balance app blocks to this page.

- Loyalty Account Page in customer accounts
The VIP Tiers section will be displayed to the Loyalty account page by adding **Loyalty Account Page block **to the same page.

Frequently Asked Questions
- When do VIP tiers start tracking customer progress?
VIP tiers only begin tracking and calculating customer progress once the tiers are enabled. Any activity before enabling tiers will not count toward tier entry.
- Why is the Bronze tier entry always set to 0 points?
The Bronze tier is the default starting tier for all customers. Its entry requirement is fixed at 0 points and cannot be changed.
